Da Nang Airport Fast Track: What It Costs, When the Queues Form, and When to Skip It

1. Whether it is worth buying

If you land between 11:00 and 14:00 or between 21:00 and 24:00, it is worth pricing. Outside those hours most travellers do not need it. Immigration at Da Nang International Airport📍Map is not uniformly slow. It backs up when international flights cluster, and they cluster twice a day.

The rest of the decision comes down to how many of you there are, because this is priced per person and nothing about it scales.

A good number of flights into Da Nang land late at night. That is both a busy window and the hours when operators apply a night surcharge, so for a late arrival it is worth checking what the quoted price already includes before you decide.

2. The price list is split into parts

Fast track is presented as a single service, but it is priced as separate pieces. Some are in the base fee, some cost extra, and one of them does not apply to you at all unless you are entering on a pre-approved visa on arrival.

Prices move with the operator and the exchange rate. Vietnamese sellers quote arrival-only packages around 406,000 VND for an adult and 221,000 VND for a child aged three to eleven, while direct operators list the upper lane and the baggage help as separate line items on top of a base fee.

One detail worth knowing before you pay: several sellers describe the priority lane as the crew counter. It is an existing desk being shared rather than a new one opened for the service, which is why operators themselves warn that the lane can develop a queue when many passengers off the same flight have booked it.

Holders of Vietnamese passports cannot use the service. It is sold to foreign passport holders only.

3. Whether the visa part applies to your passport

Two routes into Vietnam cover almost every reader, and neither of them passes a visa stamping counter.

Visa on arrival is no longer the ordinary tourist route it once was. It is issued only against an approval letter arranged in advance, and without that letter airlines will not board you. It survives for urgent and sponsored cases rather than for holidays.

So unless you are in that third row, the stamping assistance and the government fee quoted alongside it are not part of your calculation. 4. The free step that comes first

Before pricing anything, there is a compulsory step that costs nothing. Vietnam requires an online pre-arrival declaration, and it has applied at Da Nang since 15 June 2026.

The scheme started at Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City and expanded through Phu Quoc, Noi Bai and Cam Ranh before reaching Da Nang. It moves information that used to be written on paper at the counter into a form filed before you fly, which is the same congestion the paid service sells itself against.

Save or print the QR code before you leave home. Embassy guidance on this scheme points out that wi-fi inside Da Nang airport can be unreliable and advises arriving with the declaration already done. Filing it in the arrivals hall on a weak connection takes longer than doing it at home.

5. The two windows when the hall backs up

Immigration at Da Nang concentrates into 11:00 to 14:00 and 21:00 to 24:00. Those are the windows named by the city authority and reported in the Vietnamese press, and they are wider than the evening-only window that sales pages tend to describe.

The cause is scheduling. Da Nang handles 130 to 170 flights a day, of which 60 to 70 are international. Time zones across the region and the economics of overnight flying push arrivals and departures into the same two blocks, so the terminal alternates between quiet and saturated instead of being evenly busy.

Check your arrival time against those windows before you book anything. Da Nang has formally asked the aviation authority to spread flight slots so that arrivals stop clustering, so the shape of the day can change.

6. A terminal running at 170% of what it was built for

The queues are a building problem rather than a staffing one. The international terminal was designed for 4 million passengers a year. It handled 6.18 million in 2024 and 6.81 million in 2025, which is 170% of its design capacity.

Both halves are over capacity, and with passenger numbers growing 20 to 30% a year the gap has not closed on its own.

Work has started. The expansion broke ground on 19 May 2026 at a cost of around 1.5 trillion VND. The completion window, though, runs across 2026 to 2030, so this is not a problem that will have resolved itself by your trip.

Note where the effort goes. Raising check-in counters from 54 to 85 is the largest single change in the plan, and check-in is a departures problem.

7. Why the autogates are not your answer

Da Nang does have automated immigration gates. Tourists cannot use them.

The system was handed to the Immigration Department in March 2025 and consists of four gates plus two registration desks, with the same equipment installed at Noi Bai, Cam Ranh, Tan Son Nhat and Phu Quoc. Eligibility is the limiting condition. Among foreign nationals it covers holders of permanent or temporary residence cards and APEC business travel cards, which means e-visa and visa-free arrivals go to the staffed desks.

More gates therefore do not shorten the line you will be standing in. The city has asked central ministries to widen eligibility to international travellers, so read the table as the position today rather than a permanent one.

8. Leaving is the harder half

Fast track is thought of as an arrivals product, but at Da Nang the slower half of the journey is the one going out.

Of the 29 airlines serving Da Nang, two offer online check-in with self bag drop. Everyone else queues at a desk. With 54 counters and 60-odd international flights compressed into the same two windows, the result at the check-in hall follows. It is why the expansion puts its weight behind raising counters to 85.

Departure packages are sold separately and are built differently. Alongside priority exit immigration, operators offer priority security screening and check-in assistance as add-ons, and some include lounge access. What is bundled varies enough that it has to be read off the booking page rather than assumed.

If your flight home leaves after 21:00, look at the departure side first. Evening is when arrivals and departures pile into the terminal together.

9. What to check before you book

Two listings with the same name can cover very different things. These are the points that separate them.

10. Cutting the wait without paying

A fair amount of the delay is removable for nothing. Done in order, this is enough for most arrivals.

The last one does the most work. Reading the arrival time before you buy the ticket often removes the question entirely.

Having a car already booked makes the part after the desk straightforward, and it means you have nothing to discuss with the people who approach arriving passengers. 11. What is likely to change

How useful this service is depends on the airport, and three things about the airport are in motion.

The city has also asked for more immigration officers at peak hours and for every desk to be opened when flights cluster. Check your airline’s notices and the declaration portal shortly before you fly.
