The Dragon Bridge (Cầu Rồng) is Da Nang’s signature sight — a 666-metre golden dragon arching over the Han River that, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, actually breathes fire and shoots water. The show is free, lasts a few minutes, and draws a happy crowd to the riverbanks every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. The sequence is always the same, and knowing it helps you film it:
- 1. Fire: the dragon’s head roars and shoots real flames in several bursts for about two minutes — you can feel the heat from the walkway.
- 2. Water: moments later, the head sprays jets of water out over the river (and onto anyone standing near it).
- 3. Done: the crowd claps, the bridge reopens to traffic, and the riverside night carries on.
⚠️ The water really does reach the walkway near the head. It’s harmless fun and kids love it, but keep cameras and phones covered for that part.
5. The Bridge Itself: A Golden Dragon
Even without the show, the Dragon Bridge is a landmark worth seeing:
- The design: a 666-metre steel dragon in the style of the Lý dynasty, arcing over the Han River with its head raised toward the sea.
- Opened: 29 March 2013, to mark the anniversary of Da Nang’s liberation — it quickly became the city’s symbol.
- Lights: thousands of LEDs light the dragon every night, cycling through colours.

6. Getting There & Timing
The Dragon Bridge is right in the centre, spanning the Han River, so it’s easy to reach:
- By ride app or taxi: a Grab from most hotels is just a few minutes — ask for Cầu Rồng or the Bạch Đằng riverfront.
- On foot: if you’re staying near the river or in the centre, it’s a pleasant evening walk along Bạch Đằng.
- When: arrive by 8:30 PM on a Fri/Sat/Sun. The bridge closes to traffic before the show, so the walkway fills up fast.

- The Carp-Dragon statue (Cá Chép Hóa Rồng): a graceful marble carp turning into a dragon on the east bank, beautifully lit — a 5-minute walk from the bridge.
- The Love Bridge (Cầu Tình Yêu): a small lantern-lit pier beside the statue, hung with love-locks.
