Staying Overnight on Ba Na Hills: What the Extra Night Actually Gets You
Nobody sleeps up there for the rooms. Guests are the only people who can stand on the Golden Bridge before the cable car opens to everyone else.
| The one thing you gain | Two hours, roughly 06:00 to 08:00, when the Golden Bridge is empty |
|---|---|
| Dawn cable car | Guests only, generally in the 06:00 hour, running before the park opens |
| The evening | No longer quiet. An evening combo now runs the main line until 22:00 |
| Cable car ticket | Not in the room rate. Since 2026 one ticket is valid three consecutive days |
| 2026 fares | 1,000,000 VND for a visiting adult, 650,000 for a Da Nang resident |
| Rooms | Nine categories, 2.2 to 4.8 million VND. 461 rooms, and the only hotel operating on the summit |
| Check-in cut-off | The reception at the bottom closes at 16:30, because of the last cable car |
| Altitude | 1,487 m. Seven to eight degrees cooler than the city, 12 to 18°C after dark |
| Odds of seeing nothing | September to December the summit sits inside cloud often. March to September is clearer |

14. Four things to check before you book

1. What the extra night is for
Nobody books the hotel on top of Ba Na Hills for the rooms. The cable car opens at 08:00 and the day crowd arrives all at once, so guests are the only people who can be on the Golden Bridge before that. That window is the whole product.
Which narrows the decision to two questions. Are you a person who will get up at six, and are you willing to accept that the summit may be inside a cloud that morning? The longer you spend reading room reviews, the further you are from the answer.
Pick by situation
| Your trip | Do this | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You want Golden Bridge photographs without other people in them | Stay the night | The dawn run is the only way. No hour of the day thins out |
| Three nights or fewer in Da Nang | Day trip | Half a day more on the mountain comes out of the city and Hoi An |
| Visiting between March and September | Consider the night | Clearer months, so an early start has something to show for it |
| Visiting between October and December | Day trip | The summit is often in cloud, and you can wake to a white wall |
| Family of four | Do the sums first | Four cable car tickets come to around 4 million VND. The tickets can cost more than the room |
For the day-trip version, the Ba Na Hills guide covers the route up and how to buy tickets. For the bridge itself, start at the Golden Bridge guide.
2. The guest-only cable car at dawn
Guests ride before the park opens. The run is generally in the 06:00 hour, from the French Village towards the Golden Bridge, and it carries hotel guests only. Departures around 06:15 and 06:45 are the ones most often quoted.
🔴 Those times are not published on the hotel’s own pages. The operator’s own media and every ticket seller give the same window, which makes it credible, but confirm it with the hotel when you book. Peak season can add or drop departures.
The same bridge at different hours
| Time | The bridge | Who can be there |
|---|---|---|
| 06:00 to 07:05 | Close to empty, with mist sitting below the deck | Hotel guests |
| 08:00 | Normal service starts and the first arrivals come up | Everyone |
| 10:00 to 15:00 | Busiest. Walking pace stops on the bridge | Everyone |
| 16:30 to 17:00 | Day visitors start heading down | Everyone |
The reason this window exists is mechanical. Getting to the Golden Bridge means riding a cable car, and the line from the bottom of the mountain starts at 08:00. To be on the bridge at six, you have to already be up there from the night before.
It is 14 to 18°C at that hour, on days when Da Nang is at 28. Go out without a layer and you will take a few photographs and come straight back in.
Golden BridgeMap
3. The evening is not empty any more
The old line about having the mountain to yourself after dark no longer holds. An evening combo ticket now exists, and the main L’Indochine line runs until 22:00 to serve it.
Day-ticket holders do leave: the last ride up is between 16:30 and 17:00, and they are off the mountain by evening. Their place is taken by the evening combo crowd. The French Village at night is thinner than at midday, but it is not deserted.
| Hours | Who is on the mountain |
|---|---|
| 08:00 to 17:00 | The full day crowd. Peak congestion |
| 17:00 to 22:00 | Evening combo visitors and hotel guests |
| 22:00 to 06:00 | Hotel guests only, but no cable car runs to the Golden Bridge |
| 06:00 to 08:00 | Hotel guests only, and the Golden Bridge is reachable |
The evening combo costs 1,000,000 VND for a visiting adult and 650,000 for a Da Nang resident; 800,000 and 550,000 respectively for over-70s and children between 1 m and 1.4 m. Craft beer is included for over-18s.
So the quiet hours are after 22:00, and there is no way to reach the bridge then. Quiet and the Golden Bridge only coincide in the morning.
4. The room rate does not include the cable car
Your room rate does not cover the cable car ticket. The hotel is on the summit and the cable car is the only way in, so the ticket functions as an entry fee. Guests collect a discounted ticket at the front desk at the Thac Toc Tien station at the bottom, quoted at around 30 per cent off, though the terms vary by the package you booked.
Official 2026 fares
These are from the Da Nang city tourism portal and apply from 1 January to 31 December 2026.
| Ticket | Visitors | Da Nang residents |
|---|---|---|
| Cable car only, adult | 1,000,000 VND | 650,000 VND |
| Cable car only, over 70 | 800,000 VND | 550,000 VND |
| With food voucher, adult | 1,250,000 VND | 900,000 VND |
| With lunch buffet, adult | 1,300,000 VND | 1,000,000 VND |
| With lunch buffet, child | 1,000,000 VND | 750,000 VND |
The ticket covers the return cable car, the Golden Bridge, Le Jardin d’Amour, the Moon Castle and the other main sights, most Fantasy Park rides, the shows and the cinema. Charged separately: the climbing experience at 100,000 VND, the light museum at 150,000, the Debay wine cellar at 100,000, the speed slide at 70,000 and the Wow Pass at 300,000.
🔴 Since 2026 one ticket lasts three days
The official wording is “one ticket, three days”: unlimited cable car rides across three consecutive days. Which means an overnight still takes only one ticket per person. The real added cost of staying is the room, not a second fare.
| Condition | Detail |
|---|---|
| Buffet and individual rides | Once only, even across the three days |
| Before first use | Face ID registration is required |
| Child height | Under 1.2 m cannot use the slides; 1.2 to 1.4 m with an adult; 1.4 m and over pays the adult fare |
For paying on the ground, see money and payments in Vietnam.
5. How the mountain is laid out
The Golden Bridge is not at the summit. The hotel and the French Village are at the top; the bridge sits lower, around the Marseille station. So even guests ride a cable car to reach it, which is exactly why a dedicated dawn departure has to exist.
| Line | Between | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Hoi An – Marseille | The base up to the Golden Bridge level | Going up. The bridge and Le Jardin d’Amour are here |
| Debay – Morin | Mid-mountain to the summit | Reaching the French Village and the hotel |
| Thac Toc Tien – L’Indochine | The base direct to the summit | Mostly used coming down. This is the evening combo line |
| Suoi Mo – Ba Na | A section line | Depending on how the day is running |
| Bordeaux – Louvre | Within the summit area | Moving around up top |
All five were built by Doppelmayr and together move 6,500 people an hour. CNN put the system among ten of the world’s most impressive cable car rides, and it holds four Guinness world records. Ba Na HillsMap is 45 to 60 minutes from central Da Nang by car.
🔴 Published operating hours disagree between sources. Some give 08:00 with a last ride up at 16:30; others give 07:30 to 21:00. Check the operator’s notice on the day. The last ride up in particular decides whether you make check-in.
6. Nine room categories and what they cost
Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills has 461 rooms across seven buildings. The site covers six hectares and the buildings are named after French cities, Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux. It is the only hotel still operating up here; the old Morin and Debay properties are now restaurants.
| Room | Size | Per night | Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 22 m² | 2.2 to 2.4 million VND | Low |
| Superior | 22 m² | 2.5 to 2.7 million VND | Low to mid |
| Deluxe | 28 to 30 m² | 2.9 to 3.2 million VND | Mid |
| Family Deluxe | 30 m² | 3.1 to 3.4 million VND | Mid |
| Family Superior | 30 m² | 3.8 to 4 million VND | Mid to high |
| Family Bunks | 25 to 30 m² | 3.8 to 4 million VND | Mid to high |
| Duplex Suite | 40 m² | 3.9 to 4.2 million VND | Mid to high |
| Executive Suite | 46 to 56 m² | 4 to 4.3 million VND | High |
| Family Suite | 80 m² | 4.5 to 4.8 million VND | High |
Rates move a lot by date. Treat the ranges as a reference and check your own dates.
What actually differs between them
The entry rooms are 22 m². They are smaller and older than a beachfront resort room in Da Nang at the same price. This is a four-star hotel and it does not compete on the room. You are paying for the address, not the bedroom.
With children, Family Bunks has the bunk beds that make the stay for them, though at 25 to 30 m² it is not spacious. For four or more, the 80 m² Family Suite is the honest answer and it costs roughly double. Trip planning with children is set out in Da Nang with kids.
Mercure French VillageMap7. Why check-in closes at 16:30
The reception at the bottom of the mountain closes at 16:30, because of the last cable car of the day. Check-in runs from 14:00 to 16:30, and past that you are not going up. The ordinary hotel pattern of arriving late and handing over a passport at a front desk does not apply here.
| Step | When | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Check in and collect tickets | 14:00 to 16:30 | Front desk at the Thac Toc Tien station, at the bottom |
| Ride up | Before 16:30 | Same station |
| Check out | 07:30 to 10:30 | The hotel, on the summit |
| Breakfast | 06:30 to 09:30 | La Côte d’Azur |
If you land at Da Nang airport in the afternoon, going straight up the same day is a risk. The station is 45 to 60 minutes from the city, and once you add dropping bags at a hotel, 16:30 arrives quickly. The night after arrival is the safer slot.
Check-out at 10:30 works in your favour. See the bridge at dawn, eat breakfast, clear the room, and the morning is still ahead of you. You can stay on the mountain, and because the ticket lasts three days you can come back up another day.
Getting from the city to the station is covered in getting around Da Nang.

8. 1,487 m, and four seasons in a day
The summit is at 1,487 m, averaging 17 to 20°C, which is seven to eight degrees below the city. On an August day when Da Nang hits 32, short sleeves will not carry you through the evening up here.
| Hours | Temperature | What it feels like |
|---|---|---|
| 06:00 to 10:00 | 14 to 18°C | Misty and cool |
| 10:00 to 15:00 | 20 to 25°C | The comfortable stretch |
| 15:00 to 18:00 | 18 to 22°C | The wind picks up |
| After 18:00 | 12 to 18°C | Some nights want winter clothing |
The recorded range runs from 25 to 30°C at the high end down to 0 to 2°C at the low. Freezing is rare, but a winter dawn up here genuinely numbs your hands.
What to carry up
One light layer may not be enough. If you plan to be out on the bridge at six, take long sleeves and a windproof shell. Your shoes will get wet: on a misty morning the decking and the railings are beaded with water. A hooded jacket beats an umbrella, because the wind up there comes sideways.
Month-by-month rainfall and temperature are in the Da Nang weather guide, and the best time to visit Da Nang sets out which months to aim for.
9. Clouded out: the mornings you see nothing
When the summit goes inside a cloud, you cannot see past the stone hands from the middle of the Golden Bridge. Waking at six, riding up and finding a white wall is a real outcome. It is the first thing to accept before buying the night.
| Months | The summit | Verdict on staying |
|---|---|---|
| March to September | Mostly clear, long views | An early start pays off |
| September to December | Cloud and mist are frequent | Best odds for a cloud inversion, and the best odds of seeing nothing |
| October to February | Wet and cold | Only if a quiet mountain is the point |
A sea of cloud is cloud sitting below you, so it happens in the cloudy months. Wanting clear skies and wanting an inversion pull in opposite directions. Ask for both and you are guaranteed neither.
One point does favour the overnight here. A day trip stakes everything on a few hours. A night gives you the evening, the dawn and the next morning, three separate attempts, and mountain weather turns inside half a day.
If the mountain is written off by rain, things to do in Da Nang when it rains has the alternatives back in the city.

10. Eating up there
There are seven to ten restaurants, cafés and bars on the summit. There is no going down for dinner, so dinner and breakfast happen here. It is worth knowing there is a choice.
| Venue | What it is |
|---|---|
| La Côte d’Azur | Breakfast buffet, 06:30 to 09:30 |
| La Crique | Dinner buffet, around 80 Asian and European dishes |
| L’Étable | French à la carte |
| Maison du Roi | Sandwiches and pizza |
| Café Postal | Café |
| Le Grenier Lounge | Lounge |
| Bar La Taverne | Bar |
Breakfast is included in the room rate. The sequence is to ride out at dawn and come back for it; since service ends at 09:30, going out around six and returning by half past eight fits comfortably.
La Piscine, the indoor pool, is held at 32°C. On a night when the outside air is 15, an indoor heated pool matters more than it sounds. There is also the Rhône Spa and a fitness room.
Prices up here run well above the city. To weigh that against eating in town, see things to do in Da Nang and Da Nang activities.
11. Luggage and getting there
Carrying a full suitcase onto a cable car is the awkward part of this stay. No car reaches the hotel door. You load at the station, ride up, and walk in from the top.
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Large cases | Leave them at your city hotel and move one night’s things into a small bag. Most Da Nang hotels store luggage |
| Reaching the station | 45 to 60 minutes from the city. A Grab out means finding another car back |
| The ride back | Cars thin out around the station in the evening. A return booking removes the wait |
| After check-out | The ticket lasts three days, so you can drop bags and come back up |
A car with a driver for the day covers the station run and can take in Hoi An or My Son on the same hire. The station sits west of the city, and once you count two separate Grab rides the difference is often small.
Combining nearby trips into one day is covered in the best day trips from Da Nang.
12. When the night is worth it, and when it is not
Put plainly: for most travellers Ba Na Hills is a day trip. The case for staying is narrow.
| Stay the night if | Take the day trip if |
|---|---|
| You want the bridge without other people in the frame | Seeing everything matters more than the photographs |
| You are visiting March to September | You are visiting October to December |
| You have four nights or more in Da Nang | You have three or fewer |
| An evening and a night on the mountain is itself the point | The beach and city food are the point |
| You will get up at six | Sleeping in is part of the holiday |
The arithmetic
For two people, 2 million VND of cable car tickets applies either way, and with three-day validity an overnight still takes one ticket each. So the extra cost of staying is the room, 2.2 to 4.8 million VND, plus dinner at summit prices.
The same money puts you in a five-star resort on the Da Nang coast, in a larger and newer room with a sea view. Which is why the decision resolves the way it does. What 2.2 million VND is paying for is not a bedroom; it is two hours in the morning. If those two hours are worth that to you, stay. If not, the day trip is right.
The coastal alternatives are in the Da Nang resorts guide and where to stay in Da Nang.
13. The same mountain, two timetables
Laid side by side, the two versions of this day look like this.
| Time | Day trip | Overnight |
|---|---|---|
| 07:00 | Leave the city | Already up there from last night |
| 08:00 | Board the cable car, in a queue | Walking back from the Golden Bridge |
| 09:00 | Reach the bridge, busy | Breakfast |
| 10:30 | French Village | Check out, with the whole morning left |
| 12:00 | Lunch buffet | Fantasy Park and the summit sights |
| 15:00 | Fantasy Park | Head down, or stay longer |
| 16:30 | Start down | Ticket lasts three days, so you can return tomorrow |
| 18:00 | Back in the city, day over | Back in the city for dinner |
A day trip compresses everything into eight and a half hours between 08:00 and 16:30, and those are precisely the busiest hours on the mountain. An overnight spreads the same sights either side of them.
Where this fits in a full Da Nang trip is set out in the three to four day itinerary.
14. Four things to check before you book
A hotel inside a mountain park books differently from a normal one. Four checks head off most of the trouble.
| Check | Why |
|---|---|
| Whether the rate includes a cable car ticket | Base room rates do not. Packages that bundle one are sold separately |
| Whether the dawn run operates on your dates, and at what time | It is not officially published and can shift with season and weather. It is the reason you are staying, so ask first |
| The 16:30 check-in cut-off | A late arrival day means no ride up at all. Read the cancellation terms alongside it |
| The three-day ticket conditions | Cable car rides are unlimited, but the buffet and individual attractions are once only, and Face ID registration comes first |
You cannot know the weather when you book. Hold a cancellable rate and look at the forecast two days out. Between September and December that is the difference between a good night and an expensive white wall.
