Grand World Phu Quoc: Free to Enter, and Everything Else Runs on a Clock
Grand World charges no admission to the complex itself and sells tickets only for the shows and the museum. This sets out the operator’s official price list, the four evening shows, the daytime area that costs nothing, and what the ride home looks like afterwards.

1. Nothing is charged at the gate
Grand WorldMap charges no admission to the complex. Only four things are ticketed, and the rest is walking around.
What you actually have to decide here is timing. Four evening shows fall between 20:15 and 22:50, and one area that costs nothing during the day becomes a paid show at night.

These are the figures on the operator’s own price list. Bought separately the show and the museum come to 500,000; the combined ticket is 450,000, so the gap is 50,000.
Three things to settle first
- What time you arrive. Come in daylight and the free area is running; come in the evening and the shows are.
- Whether you want the show. Only the evening Quintessence performance costs 300,000.
- What time you leave. The last laser show finishes at 22:50.
The complex sits at Bai DaiMap in the north of the island, in the same development as VinWondersMap and Vinpearl SafariMap. A free shuttle links the three.
The canal, the shops, the bamboo building and the sculpture park are all walk-through. Plenty of people come only to eat, and even with no ticket at all you can fill two or three hours.

2. The same area is free by day and 300,000 at night
The line that stands out on the official price list is the Quintessence of Vietnam. It appears twice: free during the day, 300,000 VND for the evening show.
What runs in daylight
The area is built to look like an old walled village. The shops open from 10:00 to 18:30 with performers working them as stallholders, and admission at those hours is free.
There are short ceremonies too. A traditional music set at 16:30, the gate-opening and guard change from 16:30, an investiture ceremony at 17:00 and a royal palanquin procession at 17:15. Each runs ten to thirty minutes.
What runs at night
At the Quintessence of Vietnam areaMap a 45-minute staged performance starts at 20:15. That is the one that costs 300,000. The operator puts the investment at 8.3 million US dollars and splits the show into four chapters.

How the two differ
By day you walk through the courtyards and the market street. Performers are in period dress selling things, so it is closer to browsing than to watching.
The evening show is 45 minutes in a seat. The stage is on water and uses lighting and projection, so the same courtyard looks like a different place.
3. Prices are set by height
The ticket counter measures height. From 140cm you pay the adult rate; from 100cm to under 140cm you pay the child rate. Age is used only for the over-60 rate.
What that means in practice
A tall primary-school child pays the adult price. A short teenager pays the child price. Nobody at the gate asks how old the child is, so the passport does not help.
VinWonders and Vinpearl Safari on the same island work the same way. If you are doing all three, measuring your child before you leave makes the budget accurate.
The over-60 rate
Visitors aged 60 and over pay the same as children: 230,000 for the show, 150,000 each for the gondola and the museum. Bring photo ID.
Whether to take the combined ticket
If you want both the show and the museum, the combined ticket saves 50,000. If you only want one of them, there is no reason to buy it.
The official rules state that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded, so fix the date before you pay.
4. Four shows inside two hours thirty-five minutes
This is the evening schedule the operator publishes.

From the first curtain at 20:15 to the end of the laser show at 22:50 is two hours thirty-five minutes. Seeing all four means giving up the whole evening.
The gaps between them
Lantern releasing ends at 21:10 and the Venice show begins at 21:30. Those twenty minutes are the walk from the Quintessence area to the lake.
The Venice show ends at 22:00 and the laser show is at 22:45, leaving 45 minutes. Most people spend it in the cafes along the canal or on a gondola, though gondolas stop at 21:00, so that has to happen earlier.
Leaving after three of them
The laser show lasts five minutes. If waiting 45 minutes for it does not appeal, leaving at 22:00 when the Venice show ends still gets you back to Duong Dong before midnight.
Where to stand
The Quintessence show is seated and your ticket has a place on it, so arriving twenty minutes before the start is enough.
The Venice and laser shows are watched standing at the lake railing. The spots facing the stage fill about twenty minutes ahead, so it is worth walking over during the gap.
5. Two of the official language pages list an earlier laser show
The operator runs the same page in five languages. On the laser show the times split two ways.

Checking on the day
A board with the day’s schedule is posted at the gate and beside the lake. Photographing it on the way in settles the question, and the ticket desk will confirm.
Show times also move with the season and with special events. Even with a ticket bought in advance, it is worth reading the board once.
6. The Quintessence area works differently by day and night
The area is modelled on an old walled village: a gate, courtyards, bamboo fencing and palace buildings. The operator says even the floor bricks were fired by hand.

Three ceremonies run back to back between 16:30 and 17:30. If the daytime programme is what you want, arrive inside that hour.
Who made the show
The evening performance is directed by Nguyen Viet Tu, with Tran Duc Cuong, chairman of the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences, as historical adviser and Nguyen Thi Minh Thai as stage adviser, according to the official page.
The stage stands on water, buildings move, and the production uses a zipline and 3D projection. Over 45 minutes the cast moves between the water and the stage.
7. The Lake of Love and the 400-metre canal
A 400-metre canal runs through the middle of the complex and ends at the Lake of LoveMap. The stretch is built in Italian style and gondolas work it.
Gondolas
They run from 09:00 to 21:00. The fare is 200,000 VND from 140cm, and 150,000 for 100 to 140cm and for visitors over 60.
Because they stop at 21:00, you cannot ride one after the evening shows. Fit it in before the Quintessence show or during the day.

The daytime items are short. Most finish inside twenty minutes, so treat them as something you walk past rather than plan around.
The night show
The Charm of Venice uses a stage in the middle of the lake with lighting, water and projection. There is no separate charge, so a spot at the railing is all you need. Any point around the lake works, but the ones facing the stage fill roughly twenty minutes ahead.
8. The Teddy Bear Museum and Bamboo Legend
Two indoor buildings sit beside the canal. One is ticketed and one is not.
Teddy Bear Museum
The museumMap is inside the donut-shaped building. It is a series of set pieces built with teddy bears, including Vietnamese scenes such as a Ha Long Bay boat and a market.
Admission is 200,000 VND from 140cm and 150,000 for 100 to 140cm and over-60s. Combined with the Quintessence show it is 450,000.
It is a place people photograph, so with children it takes a while. Allow an hour if you are fitting it in before the evening show.
It is also indoors, which makes it a useful slot on a wet afternoon in the rainy months.
Bamboo Legend
Bamboo LegendMap is a woven bamboo structure. You can walk inside and there is no charge. The operator describes it as drawing on the lotus, the Dong Son bronze drum and bamboo.
The lattice runs all the way to the ceiling, which is what most people photograph from inside. Fifteen minutes covers it.
The operator presents the whole complex as a collection of world and Vietnamese records, and the bamboo building is one of them.
Contemporary art park
There is also an outdoor sculpture area, again with no charge. It works in daylight and is lit after dark.
9. Choosing what time to arrive
What you can see depends on when you turn up. Setting the schedule out by arrival time:

The fullest version
Arriving at 16:00 lets you run from the daytime ceremonies through to the laser show. That is more than six hours, so a meal and a sit-down have to go in the middle.
The short version
Turning up at 21:00 costs nothing and still gets you the Charm of Venice and the laser show. The gondolas have stopped by then and the Quintessence show is over.
If you are not seeing a show
An hour or two of walking works on its own. The canal, the shops, the bamboo building and the sculpture park are all free, and a lot of people come for dinner and leave.
Where the meal goes
Most ground floors along the canal are restaurants and cafes. With the show at 20:15, dinner usually happens before it; afterwards you are eating past 21:00.
Food and drink cannot be brought in, so you either buy inside or leave it at the storage service by the gate.
10. Combining it with VinWonders and the Safari
Grand World shares a development with VinWonders Phu Quoc and Vinpearl Safari, and a free shuttle connects the three.

Coming on from VinWonders
The ONCE show at VinWonders finishes at 19:05 and the Quintessence show starts at 20:15, which leaves an hour and ten minutes: five minutes of travel and the rest for dinner.
Everyone leaves VinWonders at the same moment, though, and cars are slow to appear at that hour. Check the shuttle times or arrange a vehicle in advance. The detail is in our VinWonders Phu Quoc guide.
Coming on from the Safari
The evening safari session runs past 21:00. Arrive after that and the Quintessence show has finished, leaving the Venice and laser shows. Safari timings are in our Vinpearl Safari guide.
Three sites in one day is not worth attempting. VinWonders fills a day by itself, and the safari runs on feeding times.
11. Where to buy tickets
Three things need a ticket: the evening Quintessence show, the gondola and the Teddy Bear Museum. There are two ways to get them.
At the counter
There are ticket desks at the gate and at each attraction, at the prices on the official list. If seats are left you buy on the spot.
The Quintessence show is seated, though, and the better places go first on weekends and holidays. Turning up on the evening often leaves you at the back.
In advance
Buying online skips the counter queue. Combined tickets and bundles with other sites in the group exist, which is worth a look if VinWonders or the Safari are in the same day.
Official rules say tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded, so settle the date before paying.
Children’s tickets
There is no line on the price list below 100cm. Since height is measured at the gate, if your child is near a boundary it is safer to buy on site.
12. Where it is and how to get there
Grand World is at Bai Dai in the north of the island. Duong Dong and the airport are both in the south, so the drive is not short.
Getting a car

Do not confuse it with Sunset Town
Sunset TownMap is at An Thoi in the south and also runs an evening show. It is a different place at the other end of the island, more than an hour apart by car. The southern show is covered in our Kiss of the Sea guide.
13. Getting back afterwards
The laser show ends at 22:50. Duong Dong is 26 minutes away, so you are back at the hotel around 23:20.
The problem with cars
Everyone leaves at once when the show ends, and this is the far north of the island, so app cars take a while. Twenty minutes of waiting is not unusual.
Three ways round it: book a return vehicle, skip the laser show and leave at 22:00, or sleep on Bai Dai.
If you are heading to the airport
The airport is 41 minutes away. Putting Grand World on the day of a night flight is tight: stay for the laser show and you reach the airport after midnight.
With an evening departure, leaving at 21:00 after the Quintessence show is the safer version.
Staying in the north changes it
From a Bai Dai resort, Grand World is ten minutes by car and some people walk back after the laser show.
From Duong Dong you spend close to an hour on the round trip. If the north takes up two or more days of your trip, one night up there is worth considering.
14. What you cannot bring, and the rules
These come from the operator’s rules page. A few are stricter than usual.
Not allowed inside
- Food and drink. Baby food and food for special diets are exempt.
- Live animals.
- Weaponry, including bows and crossbows.
- Flammable and explosive materials and anything prohibited by law.
There is a storage service before and after the gate, so drinks you arrive with can be left there.
Smoking
Accompaniment and refunds
Children under 140cm and anyone under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.
Filming for commercial purposes needs prior approval, and the management states it is not responsible for personal property lost on site.
15. Going with children
It works reasonably well with children. The walking areas are flat and a lot of it costs nothing.
What suits them
The Teddy Bear Museum holds children for a long time. The gondola is short and steady. The daytime ceremonies run ten to thirty minutes, which is over before attention runs out.
Lantern releasing is at 21:00. With children, stopping there is a sensible end to the evening.
What does not
The laser show is at 22:45, which is late. The Quintessence show also means 45 minutes seated with loud sound.
Pushchairs get around fine, though there are stretches in the evening where the crowd makes it hard.
Accompaniment rule
The official rules require an adult with any child under 140cm and anyone under 14. Sending children in ahead on their own does not work.
Fares
There is no line under 100cm on the price list. From 100cm to 140cm is the child rate and above that the adult rate, so measuring beforehand makes the budget exact.
16. Rain and seasons
Grand World has enough indoor and covered space to work on a wet day, though the evening shows are outdoors.
When it rains
The Teddy Bear Museum, Bamboo Legend and the shops keep you dry, and parts of the canal streets are covered.
Outdoor performances can change with the weather. The official page does not set out what happens in rain, so check the board or the ticket desk on the day.
When to come
The dry season on Phu Quoc runs from November to April. In the wet months from May to October, afternoon downpours make the evening programme the safer bet.
Busy nights
Holidays and weekend evenings draw crowds. The Quintessence show is seated so a ticket is enough, but the lake shows are watched standing and finding a spot gets harder.
