Da Nang nightlife, in 30 seconds

  • The vibe: a relaxed beach-city scene, not a wild party capital — but with rooftop bars, real nightclubs, a lively bar street, beach bars and great night markets, there’s plenty to fill an evening.
  • Where it happens: the An Thượng / My An bar quarter (bars & live music), the Bạch Đằng riverside (rooftops, cruises, the Dragon Bridge show) and the My Khe beachfront (beach bars).
  • The free headline: the Dragon Bridge fire-and-water show on Friday, Saturday & Sunday at 9 pm — the nightly centrepiece.
  • Getting home: Grab and Xanh SM are cheap and run all night, so you never need to worry about the trip back.

Da Nang isn’t Bangkok or Saigon, and that’s part of its charm — this is a laid-back beach city, so its nightlife trades all-night mayhem for something more varied and easygoing. You can start with sunset cocktails on a 36th-floor rooftop, drift down to the river to catch a fire-breathing dragon at 9 pm, wander a buzzing bar street for live music and a cold Larue, dance until the small hours at the city’s big club, or simply graze your way through a night market with a plastic stool and a fresh beer. This guide walks you through all of it — the rooftops, the clubs, the bars and live-music spots, the beach bars and craft-beer taprooms, the night markets and late-night eats, and the practical bits (prices, closing times, getting home and staying safe) — with real, named places to point you in the right direction. (Hungry between drinks? See our Da Nang food guide. Planning the whole trip? Start with our complete Da Nang guide.)

1. Da Nang After Dark: What to Expect

Let’s set expectations first, because it helps you enjoy the night for what it is. Da Nang is Vietnam’s most liveable beach city, not a backpacker party town — so you won’t find the chaotic, club-lined streets of Bangkok’s Khao San or Saigon’s Bùi Viện here. What you will find is a relaxed, surprisingly varied scene that’s grown a lot in recent years: glossy rooftop bars, a couple of genuine nightclubs, a walkable bar street full of live music, beach bars with their toes in the sand, a young craft-beer scene, and night markets that hum until late.

The action concentrates in three pockets, all a short and cheap Grab apart:

  • An Thượng / My An — the “Western quarter” just behind My Khe beach, and the heart of the bar-and-live-music scene. This is where most travellers spend the evening.
  • The Bạch Đằng riverside — the Han River promenade in the centre, home to rooftop bars, lounges, dinner cruises and the Dragon Bridge. The most scenic place to be after dark.
  • The My Khe beachfront — beach bars and laid-back spots strung along the sand, perfect for a sunset-into-night drink.

And tying it all together is one free, unmissable event: the Dragon Bridge fire-and-water show every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm. More on that next.

The nightlife areas at a glance:

Area Vibe Best for
An Thượng / My An Bars & live music, walkable Your main night out — most travellers
Bạch Đằng riverside Rooftops, cruises, the bridge show Views & a scenic evening
My Khe beachfront Beach bars, laid-back Sunset-into-night drinks
Hải Châu / downtown The big nightclub, local Late-night dancing

In the mood for something specific?

You want… Head to…
A view with your drink A rooftop bar — Sky36, Sky21 or Brilliant Top Bar
Dancing till late A nightclub — New Phương Đông or OQ Lounge
Live music & a relaxed bar An Thượng — Golden Pine, On The Radio, Minh’s Jazz
Beach & cocktails A My Khe beach bar such as Esco Beach
Craft beer 7 Bridges Brewing Co.
A free night out The Dragon Bridge show + a riverside stroll
A bite & a market Helio or Sơn Trà night market
💡 The rhythm of a classic Da Nang night: sunset drink (rooftop or beach) → an early dinner → the 9 pm bridge show on a weekend → bars and live music in An Thượng → a club or a night-market snack to finish.

2. The Riverside & the Dragon Bridge Show

If you do one thing after dark in Da Nang, make it the riverside. The Bạch Đằng promenade along the west bank of the Han River is where the city comes out to walk, eat ice cream, take photos and watch the bridges light up — and it’s completely free.

The star is the Dragon Bridge (Cầu Rồng), a 666-metre bridge shaped like a golden dragon that, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 9 pm, actually breathes fire and then sprays water from its head for a few crowd-pleasing minutes. Arrive 20–30 minutes early for a spot — the east (beach) side by the dragon’s head gets the heat and the water, while the west riverbank gives you the full photo. It’s touristy, yes, but genuinely fun and the single best free thing to do at night. (Full details, timings and the best viewing spots are in our “+_dragon(‘en’,’Dragon Bridge fire-show guide’)+”.)

Around it you’ll find more to do:

  • The Love Bridge (Cầu Tàu Tình Yêu) and the carp-dragon statue, lit up and lined with heart-shaped lanterns — a gentle riverside stroll.
  • Han River dinner cruises — boats glide past the illuminated bridges with dinner, drinks and sometimes live music on board; an easy, relaxed way to see the city lights. Touts sell tickets along the promenade, or book ahead.
  • Riverside bars and lounges on and just off Bạch Đằng, many with a view of the water.
💡 On a weekend, anchor your whole evening around the 9 pm show: eat near the river beforehand, watch the dragon, then walk to a riverside or rooftop bar afterwards.

3. Rooftop Bars With a View

Da Nang’s skyline, river and beach were made for a rooftop drink, and this is where the city’s nightlife feels most glamorous. A few that stand out:

🌃 Sky36

The famous one — perched on the 36th floor of the Novotel on the riverfront, billed as Vietnam’s highest rooftop bar. Sweeping views, DJs and a club-like buzz as the night goes on. Dress a little smart, expect higher prices, and go for the view as much as the party.

🍹 Sky21 Bar

A breezy rooftop pool bar atop the Belle Maison Parosand hotel on the beach side — sunset cocktails, sea and city views, and a more relaxed vibe than Sky36.

🌉 Brilliant Top Bar

On the roof of the Brilliant Hotel right on the river — a long-running favourite with live music and a front-row view of the Dragon Bridge and the river lights.

Most rooftops get going from around sunset and stay busy until late; weekends are liveliest. They’re pricier than street-level bars, but a single cocktail buys you one of the best views in the city.

⚠️ Rooftop bars open, rebrand and occasionally close — and some have a smart-casual dress code or a minimum spend. Search the name in Google Maps for current hours, and check whether you need to book on a busy weekend.

4. Nightclubs & Late-Night Dancing

Da Nang’s club scene is small but real, and it gets genuinely lively at weekends. If you want to dance past midnight, these are the names to know:

  • New Phương Đông (NPĐ) — the city’s biggest and best-known nightclub, a Da Nang institution on Đống Đa Street near the river. It’s huge, loud and packed at weekends, with a mostly local crowd, a big dance floor, Vietnamese pop and EDM, live performances and a real party energy. If you want one proper club night in Da Nang, this is it.
  • OQ Lounge Pub & Club — a popular club-lounge that draws a mixed local-and-visitor crowd for DJs and dancing.
  • Sky36 — doubles as a de facto club later in the evening, with DJs and dancing high above the river (see the rooftop section).

What to expect: clubs fill up late (things don’t really kick off until 11 pm or so), the music leans EDM and Vietnamese pop, and bottle service / table booking is common for groups. Drinks cost more than at a street bar, and some clubs run ladies’ nights with free or discounted entry for women.

⚠️ Always agree on prices before ordering bottles or tables, and keep an eye on your tab — inflated bills are the main nightlife annoyance anywhere in Vietnam. See our “+_a(‘en’,’scams’,’Vietnam scams & how to avoid them guide’)+” for staying sharp.

5. Bars, Pubs & Live Music in An Thượng

For most visitors, the real heart of a Da Nang night is the An Thượng / My An quarter just behind My Khe beach — a compact, walkable grid of bars, pubs, craft-beer joints and live-music venues where you can happily hop from one to the next on foot. A few favourites:

  • Golden Pine Pub — a long-running, traveller-friendly pub with a nightly live band, a big drinks list and an easy, sociable crowd. A classic first stop.
  • On The Radio Bar — a cosy, much-loved spot for live acoustic music, friendly staff and a warm vibe; great for an unhurried night.
  • Minh’s Jazz Club — for something more soulful, with live jazz and a more grown-up atmosphere.
  • Simple Man Bar — a relaxed, popular bar that’s good for a chat and a drink without the noise of a club.
  • The backpacker bars — places like TV Bar (Tê Vê) down by the beach and the long-running Bamboo 2 Bar by the river bring the buckets, drinking games and a younger party crowd, often the latest to close.

The beauty of An Thượng is that you don’t need a plan: wander the streets behind the beach, follow the music, and dip into whatever looks good. It’s safe, walkable and friendly.

💡 An Thượng is also packed with restaurants, brunch spots and massage places, so you can eat, drink and unwind all in the same few blocks — handy if you’re “+_a(‘en’,’resort’,’staying near the beach’)+”.

6. Beach Bars & Craft Beer

Two more sides of Da Nang’s night deserve their own mention:

Beach bars. Strung along the My Khe beachfront are a number of beach bars and lounges that run from golden-hour cocktails into the night — think loungers in the sand, fairy lights, cold drinks and the sound of the waves. Esco Beach is one of the best-known (a beach club-restaurant-bar that’s lively in the evening), and you’ll find a string of smaller beach bars and clubs nearby. They’re at their best at sunset and on warm, clear nights.

Craft beer. Vietnam’s craft-beer wave has reached Da Nang, and the standard-bearer is 7 Bridges Brewing Co., a homegrown craft brewery with taprooms (including one in the An Thượng area) pouring a rotating line-up of IPAs, ales and lagers. It’s a relaxed, hoppy alternative to the big-brand lagers, and a good shout if you’ve had your fill of Larue and Tiger.

💡 Local lagers — Bia Larue, Saigon, Tiger and Bia Hà Nội — are everywhere and dirt cheap, often poured ice-cold as draught bia hơi for next to nothing. Craft beer costs more but is worth a try.

7. Night Markets & Late-Night Eats

Not every Da Nang night is about drinking — some of the best evenings are spent grazing. The city’s night markets are lively, cheap and family-friendly:

  • Helio Night Market — a big, organised night market at the Helio Center (on 2 Tháng 9 Street) with food stalls, games, shopping and sometimes live entertainment. The most all-round night out for families and groups, busiest at weekends.
  • Sơn Trà Night Market — near the Dragon Bridge on the east bank, a touristy but fun strip of street food, snacks, drinks and souvenirs; easy to pair with the 9 pm bridge show.
  • An Thượng Night Market — a smaller market in the beach quarter, handy for a snack between bars.

And when the bars wind down, Da Nang’s late-night street food takes over — seafood spots, noodle stalls and the famous plastic-stool bia hơi joints where locals sit out late over cheap beer and snacks. It’s a great, low-key way to end the night.

💡 Round off the night with a late bowl or a seafood feast — our “+_a(‘en’,’food’,’Da Nang food guide’)+” covers what to eat and where, from street stalls to local specialities.

8. Practical Nightlife Tips

A few things that make a night out in Da Nang smoother:

  • Opening hours: bars and pubs typically run until around midnight to 1 am; the bigger clubs go until roughly 2–3 am (sometimes later at weekends). Night markets usually wind down by 10–11 pm. Things start later than you might expect — bars fill up after dinner, clubs after 11 pm.
  • Drink prices: a local draught beer can be as little as 15,000–25,000 VND; bottled beer and basic cocktails run roughly 40,000–120,000 VND; rooftop bars and clubs charge more, with cocktails often 120,000–200,000 VND. Still very reasonable by Western standards.
  • Getting home: Grab and Xanh SM run all night and are cheap — never drink and drive a rented motorbike. Save your hotel as a destination so you can get back easily. (How the ride apps work is in our “+_a(‘en’,’scams’,’transport & ride-app guide’)+”.)
  • Safety: Da Nang is one of Vietnam’s safest cities and is comfortable at night, but use normal sense — watch your belongings in crowds, don’t leave drinks unattended, and confirm bar/club prices before ordering to avoid an inflated bill.
  • Dress code: casual is fine almost everywhere; rooftop bars and clubs lean smart-casual (skip the flip-flops and beachwear).
  • Karaoke: hugely popular with locals — if you’re invited to a karaoke (hát karaoke) night, say yes; it’s a quintessential Vietnamese evening.
⚠️ Venues, hours and prices change often, and new bars open all the time. Treat the places here as a starting point and confirm the latest on Google Maps before you head out.
