6. Is Ba Na Hills Worth It? (Honest Take)
If you’ve seen one photo of Da Nang, it’s probably the Golden Bridge — that ribbon of gold held aloft by two giant stone hands. It lives at Sun World Ba Na Hills, a cloud-level resort complex that’s equal parts theme park, French fantasy village and engineering marvel. It’s unashamedly touristy, but the cable-car ride, the cool mountain air and that bridge make it a Da Nang rite of passage. Here’s exactly how to visit without the rookie mistakes. (First time in the city? Start with our complete Da Nang travel guide.)

1. What Is Ba Na Hills & the Golden Bridge?
Sun World Ba Na Hills sits at 1,487 m on the Truong Son range, about 25 km west of Da Nang. The French built a hill station here in the 1920s to escape the heat; today it’s a sprawling resort and theme park.
- The Golden Bridge (Cầu Vàng): a 150 m walkway held up by two weathered stone hands, opened in 2018 and instantly world-famous. It sits around 1,400 m with valley views (when the clouds cooperate).
- The cable car: the journey up holds several Guinness World Records for length and height difference — a spectacular ride over forest and waterfalls.
- French Village (Làng Pháp): a whole replica medieval town with a cathedral, square and cobbled lanes — cool, photogenic and a little surreal.
2. Tickets & Prices
One combo ticket covers the cable car, the Golden Bridge, the gardens and the indoor Fantasy Park games. Buy online (Klook etc.) to save a little and skip the queue.
| Ticket | Price (2026) |
|---|---|
| Adult (combo) | ≈ 900,000 VND ($35) |
| Child (1–1.4 m) | ≈ 750,000 VND ($29) |
| Under 1 m | Free |
3. How to Get There
Ba Na Hills is ~45 minutes west of the city. There’s no real public bus, so pick one of these:
- Private car with driver (best): round trip with a few hours’ wait runs ~600,000–900,000 VND. The most relaxed option — book the day before.
- Grab / taxi: fine going out, but cars are scarce for the trip back; agree a return or have your driver wait.
- Organised tour: includes transport, ticket and lunch — easiest if you don’t want to plan. Compare options on Klook.
Getting around the city otherwise? See our ride-hailing guide on where to stay near the action.

4. What to See & Do at the Top
🌉 Golden Bridge
The headline act. Go early — by mid-morning it’s shoulder-to-shoulder and often wrapped in cloud.
🏰 French Village
Wander the square, the cathedral and the flower-lined lanes of Le Jardin D’Amour.
🎮 Fantasy Park
A huge indoor games complex (included) — a lifesaver if the weather turns.
🍷 Debay Wine Cellar
A cool, atmospheric French wine tunnel carved into the mountain.
🛕 Linh Ung Pagoda
A serene temple and large white Buddha with mountain views.
🚡 The Cable Car
Don’t rush it — the ride itself, over jungle and waterfalls, is half the experience.
5. Best Time to Go & Insider Tips
- Arrive at opening (~7:30–8:00): the single best tip. You beat the tour buses and the afternoon cloud that swallows the Golden Bridge.
- Dress in layers: the summit is often 10°C cooler than the city and can be foggy or drizzly — bring a light jacket. Check our Da Nang weather guide before you go.
- Pick a clear day: if you have flexibility, go when the forecast is bright — fog can hide the views entirely.
- Allow 5–6 hours for a relaxed visit, or a full day with the buffet and all the rides.
- Comfortable shoes: there’s a lot of walking and plenty of steps.

6. Is Ba Na Hills Worth It? (Honest Take)
Yes — with the right expectations. This is a polished theme park, not untouched nature, and at peak times it’s busy. But the cable-car ride is genuinely world-class, the cool air is a blissful break from the coast, and standing on the Golden Bridge is a only-in-Da-Nang moment.
Go early, pick a clear day, and treat it as a fun half-to-full day out rather than a wilderness escape, and you’ll love it. Prefer real nature instead? The free Son Tra Peninsula and Marble Mountains (both in our master guide) are the quieter alternatives.
